Lil Wayne - I Am Not A Human Being

Like the blacklight visuals. I personally feel that Lil Wayne is falling off lyrics wise from where he was. The amount of material he puts out, it's understandable. But this track, lyrics wise, is hit or miss for me. Hopefully dude been thinkin up some hot stuff in the clink. Cheq tha vid.

Wale speaks on KiD CuDi diss with DJ Drama

Last Friday, Wale called into DJ Drama’s show on Shade 45 to talk about his Birthday weekend and the success of “No Hands”. He also elaborated on Kid Cudi’s comments in Complex. It’s plain and simple: coke is no joke. Kid Cudi spoke on how he was using cocaine to get through long interviews, and Wale basically takes the rick james approach and says cocaine is a helluva drug lol. You can check the sound clip at RapRadar.

KiD CuDi disses Wale in COMPLEX magazine

Not sure if you guys were aware of this, but Cudi dissed Wale heavy in his interview. Wale's response coming up next.

Complex: Speaking of Wale, when you hit that fan at your show last December, he came out with a line about it ["Throwin' 'round wallets like the dude that Kid Cudi hit," from "Thank You Freestyle"].

Kid Cudi: It wasn’t a shot, it’s just a simple-ass rhyme by a simple-ass rapper. You can’t let that shit faze you. That’s one of those raps that just shows the world that you wack. Why would you even use that as a metaphor? Everybody think they Hov. Niggas ain’t got the magic like they think they do; there’s only a couple of wizards in this game. I’m a wizard and I know it.

The Preface

DISCLAIMER: THE VOCALS ON SOME TRACKS ARE STILL KINDA SOFT! This project is more of a purge than anything at this point. Didn’t know a thing about recording when I started or how to flow over a beat when doing it, and I still have a lot to learn. But consider this a stepping stone… I’m already at the next plateau. Still, I did it all on my own (mostly) an believe there is plenty potential if you give it a good listen. Next project (The Epilogue) already shaping up, an... now that I know what I'm doing, there will be no issues (except with datpiff lol) So, without further ado, here it is: The Preface.

Kool Moe Dee on varying definitions of the word freestyle: "A lot of the old-school artists didn’t even respect what’s being called freestyle now... any emcee coming off the top of the head wasn’t really respected. The sentiment was emcees only did that if they couldn’t write. The coming off the top of the head rhymer ...had a built-in excuse to not be critiqued as hard."

Forest in a Box

Here's the skinny from Gizmodo.com

In a public plaza in Oosterdokskade, Amsterdam, DUS Architects installed the Unlimited Urban Woods. On the outside: a non-descript white box with a few square meter footprint. On the inside: a forest as far as the eye can see.

Using a series of strategically angled mirrors, DUS made the illusory forest from just a single full-size tree. Hedwig Heinsman, one of the architects behind the project, said, "It's a space with its own horizon, where you can flee the city in the middle of town." Of course, all those mirrors mean that you'll always be sharing your forest-in-a-box with a whole crowd of people who look uncannily like yourself.

As previously indicated, Pharrell Williams is credited as a music producer and co-creator of the official music score for the upcoming animated Summer film Despicable Me. Universal Pictures wanted a sound that was a mix of contemporary, old school Funk and Hip Hop for the music score. The studio was so impressed by Pharrell’s work that he recorded three more songs in addition to the title track that made it on to the actual official soundtrack. Offered are “Fun, Fun, Fun”, “Rocket’s Theme”, “Prettiest Girls”, Robin Thicke’s “My Life” and “Minion Mambo” by Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell. Enjoy.

Drake: Better Than Good Enough

Here's the thing... Drake has had one of the quickest, most steady up-rise in this game in a long time. He can sing, he can rap, he can even act a little (or at least he used to be able to lol,) but there is no denying that he has talent. I think the key though, is that he doesn't let any of the fame get to his head and stays modest. People are already comparing him to the greats, an he just dropped his first album. The thing about that, and I think that he knows this too, is that he has the potential to get to that legendary plateau, but he's not quite there yet. As an artist, I can only hope that I handle the aspects of stardom as well as him.

Donnis - Fashionably Late (mixtape) + Interview

Donnis is breaking new ground in the music industry. Not only did he drop a mixtape, but he also dropped an EP with the same name. Both projects include features from Yelawolf, Pill, OJ Da Juiceman and Coling Munroe, while production work was handled by Ced Young, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and Needlz. Idk how well that EP/Mixtape combo is gonna work out for him, but he is def. on his grind, an his talent is there... cheq the mixtape an the interview below.

Donnis - Fashionably Late (Hosted by DJ Ill Will, Clinton Sparks & DJ Rockstar) by Hypetrak

First of all, thanks for your time. Could you introduce yourself to our readers?

I go by the name of Donnis reppin’ for Jonesboro, GA. I started making music at 9 years old but really tapped into it when I joined the military and was moved to Tokyo for an assignment. In my downtime in Tokyo I would record nightly after work, sell my CDs and perform at local hip hop spots around the city until I made my name around there. After my assignment in Japan I was moved to Denver Colorado where i made plans to move to NYC and search for a record deal.

Could you give us a little insight on how this experience of constant travelling has changed your view on the world and how it is reflected in your music?

Japan made me a more colorful person for lack of a better term. It really just molded me. It’s where I became a man. I wasn’t old enough to club in Atlanta yet. So all my nightlife experiences and most of my dating experiences took place in Tokyo.

You are about to head back to Japan for a few gigs. BET is going with you to film the tour. How did this come about?

I was doing another project with them called Music Matters and it brought up me touring Japan. Kelly green took a liking to me and has a true love for Japan and Japanese culture so it just kind of took off from there.

You are dropping a mixtape and EP, both entitled Fashionably Late, on the same day. That is a rather unusual strategy. What was your motivation behind this move?

I played the record for the label and they kind of just took it from me. They were like “Whoaaaa this isnt a regular mixtape due to it being all original songs”. Again, I like to call it a “luxury tape” so they decided we should drop them both on the same day. It’s something that has never been done so im excited to see how it works out!

Could you tell us a little bit about these upcoming projects and what the world can expect from these?

Amazing music and me having fun like i always do.

You have a new single out, entitled “Yup”. What made you decide to go with this specific song?

Rihanna is on the fast track to becoming a legend out here and that part of the record “Hard” just stuck out to me and Needlz super tough. We heard it as a sample in my boy Da Grindaz’ track so we all got together and expanded it and made it bigger than life. I love giving my fans a way to participate in my show so while im doing my part they are all screaming out YUP YA KNOW THIS!!! I love performing that record.

You put out your mixtape Diary Of An ATL Brave with 10 Deep, but now you are signed by a major label for your upcoming releases. You are sure getting more exposure on the media now, but could you highlight other differences between 10Deep and Atlantic Records according to your perspective?

10 deep allowed me to do all my music without turning it into anyone they let me just rock the label has a few more hands in the pot that want to hear …but they both respect me as an artist and let me just go crazy with the visuals and the sounds so not to much of a difference yet.

Where do you see yourself in the current state of the rap game and what legacy do you want to leave?

I honestly do feel like I’m a part of this new south movement. Me, J. Cole, Cyhi tha Prince, EMB, Rob Roy, Yela Wolf, Pill, B.O.B – we all are. It’s a beautiful thing, very reminiscent of the good ol’ days of OUTKAST, GOODIEMOB, GHETTO MAFIA, AND KILO ALI. Where it was less about the hit they just did them and had the hits. The legacy P’m going to leave behind is going to be huge. We are still fighting these negatives Down South. People say we can’t rap or dress well…I believe im spitting my ass off and giving people visual 16’s when I rap it you can see it and believe it, 2nd of all well im doing it in Fredrick Samuelson, Phenomenon, MCM, and Custom Tailored Italian shirts so im giving them reason to shut the fuck up and kill themselves.

Some people highlight your sense of fashion. What is your take on this? Any plans on branching out into fashion?

I’m still learning fashion. I have a passion for it and strive to be fresh whenever I step out but I’m not going to act like I’m the best dressed person in the world. However, alot of my friends are some of the freshest people in the world. Million Dollar Mano, Curtains Hollywood Holt, Poggy and Tanaka from United Arrows and Sons and Liquor Women and Tears, Big O ETC. So with friends like that I feel like, yea I’ll be stepping out into the fashion world with their help.

Where will we see Donnis in five years?

MUSIC, MOVIES, CARTOON, CLOTHING, MARKETING….I MEAN THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMETLESS…DONNIS WILL BE SITTING ON TOP OF THE WORLD…BECAUSE IN THE FAMOUS WORLDS OF MY IDOL T.I.P “I CANT QUIT”!

Self Edge + HMace Navajo Feather Pendants

Cheq tha article from hypebeast:

Self Edge gives us a peek into a unique upcoming project between themselves and HMace, a Najavo Silversmith with over 25 years of experience in the craft. Together, both produce two different versions of a classic feather pendant necklace, including a feather and double feather design, each crafted from 925 Sterling Silver with a 12 Carat Gold Fill. Added is an 18″ black suede leather necklace with a hook clasp. Retail is set at $280 USD for the single and $340 for the double, both now available through the Self Edge online store as well as Self Edge NY and SF.

I kinda want one. I rarely rock any jewelry, but when I do, I look for the symbolism behind it (whether or not it's my own, or intended by the creator lol.) I feel like the feather represents faith, wisdom and love... I don't know why I feel that but that's what I'm getting lol.

2010 Fifa World Cup Trophy/Case

I'm not a fan of Louis V. I did a post on Danish designer Lasse R. Jensen's "Louis Vuitton Must Die" necklace. And as a hugee football fan, I disapprove of the casing for the infamous World Cup trophy. The trophy is what the World Cup is all about, second only to the ball being used (and even that isn't being accepted amongst the players.) “Bouncing Cats”, a film by Nabil Elderkin is an inspiring story of one man’s attempt to create a better life for the children of Uganda using the unlikely tool of hip-hop with a focus on b-boy culture and breakdancing. Abraham “Abramz” Tekya’s Breakdance Project Uganda (B.P.U.) is a project that could empower, rehabilitate and heal the community by teaching youth about b-boy culture. The film features narration by Common and interviews with Mos Def, Will-I-Am, and K’Naan.
